Are you proud to admit you're a City Data geek? Do family and friends know you frequent the site? And if so, do they think you're really weird? Or do you try and hide your obsession for fear that others might "find you out"?

What are some common traits that all us City Data geeks share? In other words, what makes a City Data geek?

-- An unusual preoccupation with Census data?
-- Ownership of multiple (very warn) copies of the Rand McNally atlas?
-- Frequent visits to Google Earth, "just for the thrill of the ride" ?
-- An obsession with cable news?

What are some of the interests we have in common that brings us here? I'd really like to know!

I like cities, urban planning, green planning, and policies that effect them.

"on that blue site again"

"why do you care about cities!"

I only use official census data.

I don't watch any cable news.

In hindsight, maybe only those of us from Atlanta are obsessed with cable news.

The first three, yes. I don't know what cable news has to do with anything.

Yeah face book has the same look, I feel like one of the only people not on there though among people I know.

I do go to cnn.com if that is any concession. I just don't have cable.

I would fit the description above. I would bet that many people who post in here are also knowledgable about history and politics. You would likely find lots of CD posters have social science type degrees. After all most people who are interested in Geography are also interested in at least some of the other social sciences. I own a small library of atlases, history books and political books. Is all this nerdy??? youbetcha it is.
