I've personally never been there, but going by it's description, it seems like it. First, you have a waterfront with the Pacific Ocean in your front yard. Second, you have a beautiful mountainous landscape in your back yard to the east. Third, the climate seems very ideal for human beings, ranging from 50s to the 70s year round.
I'd say Denver is a close competitor given it's fairly mild climate. Some things that set it back a bit are the unpredictable snow storms (literally can get 10 ft on any given day between Nov-Apr) and the lack of a large body of water.
While I love San Diego and it is one of my favorite cities, geography alone doesn't make or break a city.
The Twin Cities, for example, don't have mountains, beaches, or year-round sunshine, but they seem to be doing just fine in virtually any quality of life measure.
I've heard a lot of good things about the Twin Cities, but given that they only have a couple solid warm months out of the year, I'd have a hard time being happy. Not to mention all of those lakes = mosquitoes and humidity. No thanks.

No, a perfect city would be affordable for all, and in SD the housing is not affordable at all.
No city in America is perfect. NYC, SF, Chicago. NO CITY IS PERFECT.
I always wonder why people bash San Diego because what really is there to hate? Seriously it makes no sense. good weather, clean, safe. The people who bash San Diego either live in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York and that's rediculous. I'd rather live here in San Diego than dozens of other cities like any city in the midwest and most in the north and a lot in the south, so I really don't know how anyone could hate it. I hate that people call San diego expensive but then blab about Seattle and San Francisco. LOL Seattle and San Francisco are way more expensive than SD is. So that's a rediculous argument right there. People call San Diego boring. wtf? The people that do are mostly people that live in the south or midwest which is a way more boring area than any place in California(except Chicago). People on here continuely bash cities like LA and San Diego and overpraise places like Seattle and San Francisco. Those two cities are great but they aren't the only great cities in America. People bash SD because it isn't like NYC or Chicago. WELL OF COURSE NOT. I am damn thankful to be living here than living in the middle of nowhere being bored out of my mind or living in the ghettos of Detroit or Cleveland.

The most affordable cities tend to be slums and really ghetto so that wouldn't be "perfect" either.
There is no perfect city because everyone has different ideas of "perfect" Some think the cold, gloomy weather of Seattle is "perfect" while the hot humid weather of the south is "perfect". see so no place is perfect because everyone has their own definition of it. I live in San Diego and I can say it isn't perfect neither is any other city. but to me it's paradise because it has something for everyone! for the young, old, and families. Plus it's safe and clean! The weather is a big plus but like I said that's my opinion of "paradise"
