I personally don't care that much about the politics of a city. Most cities I like because of their arts/architecture/food/location tend to be liberal (SF, Seattle, NYC, Boston, DC) but I don't like them b/c they are liberal per se. A lot of "conservative" cities are boring to me (OKC, Tulsa, Charlotte) b/c they are landlocked and lack a "city" feel. When I lived in SF I knew a lot of conservatives, and they didn't seem to care about the politics, they just loved the city.

I have a friend who is strictly conservative, but he loves San Francisco. He said the liberalness didn't bother him. Makes me believe that if you truly like the place, it won't be a problem all the time.

Right, people's political views generally aren't even discussed. Unless a person is walking down the street smoking a cigar or driving a car that needs a new muffler, most people wouldn't even pay attention. But I do recall when some people put signs supporting Prop 8 [anti-gay marriage] in their front yards here in LA that their homes were vandalized. So being out politically can hurt depending on what part of the country a person resides.
Until We The Sheeple realize they two party system is pitting the masses against each other while THEY make out like bandit$, the politricksters will continue to herd the sheeple.
Personally, I like cities that are in the middle. I prefer places like Northern Orange County/Southern LA county, Dallas, Houston, Miami, San Diego, Atlanta, or places in the Upper Midwest and Southwest that seem to have a good mix. In all the places I have mentioned, you can find lots of liberals and conservatives, but mainly people in between. Being a straight up moderate, I dont like people who are die hard about their politics. In fact, I hate that. I dont want to live any place where people live and breathe politics.
Charlotte is HARDLY liberal. Maybe to people living in the south, but to the rest of the country, it's definitely not liberal.
I think Charlotte is sort of what I was talking about with Oklahoma City. Whether the surrounding city may be conservative(which it probably is), the inner city is quite progressive.
I'd pick a liberal city any day; however, I can't make that choice for myself right now.
The world is changing...and it's changing fast. Conservatives are living in the past.
Very ignorant
