I'm not really surprised, except for Midwest maybe.Apparently this part of the US isn't very attracting for the immigrants ! Just from Iraq and Bosnia, they go to Michigan !
Strongly Favors the South (7)
Cuba: 81.6% in the South

Haiti: 52.3% in the South
and the vast majority of these immigrants are probably in the Miami area and other parts of Florida. Amazingly Mexicans don't appear high in the South (east of the Mississippi River) but then again we are speaking of legal migration here.

On Cubans, this data is a little old but gets at your point
How much of the 1.1 million Florida Cubans are in Miami?

Texas is the favorite state of Mexicans after California, but they're not many to go to other South states, but for the West they don't go to Cali only (Arizona,Nevada and New Mexico too).

Changes from 2000
Definitional changes: All the Pacific Island countries were consolidated in 2008, more African countries appeared in 2008. In 2000, there were 70 countries. In 2008, there were 74. Hopefully there will be better detail for 2010.
Northeast LOST to the South: Peru, Colombia, Haiti
Northeast LOST to the West: Romania
Northeast GAINED from the Midwest: Yugoslavia
West LOST to the South: United Kingdom
West GAINED from the Northeast: Romania
South GAINED from the Northeast: Peru, Colombia, Haiti
South GAINED from the West: United Kingdom
So, the big gainer this past decade: the SOUTH. They increased their share of the total foreign born population from all areas.
Florida's foreign born compared to the rest of the South
29.6% of the South's foreign born live in Florida (despite being around 16% of the South's total population), but contains
33.4% of the South's British population
28.2% of the South's German population
-AS OPPOSED TO-
92.4% of the South's Cuban population
71.8% of the South's Dominican population
87.7% of the South's Haitian population
66.6% of the South's Jamaican population
47.5% of the South's Trinidadian and Tobagoan population
74.8% of the South's Nicaraguan population
62.6% of the South's Argentinian population
58.3% of the South's Brazillian population
53.2% of the South's Chillean population
69.1% of the South's Colombian population
60.2% of the South's Ecuadorian population
54.8% of the South's Guyanese population
53.0% of the South's Peruvian population
56.2% of the South's Uruguayan population
71.5% of the South's Venezuelan population
45.0% of the South's Canadian population
To be fair though, if California wasn't part of the West, the foreign born numbers would SIGNIFICANTLY decrease
California's foreign born population compared to the rest of the West
71.8% of the West's foreign born live in California (despite being only 53% of the West's total population)
There's way too many countries to list, but almost every single one of them are overrepresented in California compared to the rest of the West.
I'm sure the same could be said for New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas.
