was I too harsh? Baltimore just doesn't seem to have big city qualities, and the crime still a major problem, they kneed to get it under control

you sounded a bit harsh

Baltimore does have some big city qualities like tall buildings and tourist attractions, and lots of neighborhoods, but misses some

And yea, Baltimore needs to do something, really badly, about the crime. its far from exceptable

So forgive me for not being more enthusiastic about the prospect of same!
You don't know MY childhood though---I was listening to Enya, eating granola bars, and reading the Wall Street Journal while still in diapers! LOL! In most respects, I'm the equivalent of an elderly man right now. I tuck my shirt in everyday, check the stocks, eat early dinners, go to bed early, and drive an older gold Ford Contour. All I need are the dentures and the Viagra, and I'm set!

In all fairness though, I'm sure ten years from now I'll still be looking at only a slightly more polished Scranton and hearing the same old stories about the city being on the "cusp of a renaissance." I'm an optimist by nature, so I'll probably die with a smile on my face about how much better our city could be tomorrow as opposed to how far it has declined since yesterday.
