I don't think 100 million people are just gonna roll over and say 'yep, our problems will be fixed by being consumed into a larger country and losing our identity etc etc. It's a terrible idea.
Why wouldn't it work? Too many reasons to waste the time even typing them out.
The bottom line, however, is that Mexico's problems are NOT the United States' responsibility. The concern of "fixing" Mexico and solving problems for Mexicans should NOT be a priority or concern of the U.S. government which has a duty to defend American citizens and American interests.
Most of the population in Mexico and most of the population in the United States would revolt if this ever became a serious prospect.
This thread is dumb. Why the hell would we want to absorb all the problems of Mexico? Mexico is a big place, lots of resources, big problems, and a big population. We are not dealing with Puerto Rico or a country the size of Belize. I actually think this would cause way more problems for both sides.
Why don't we just let them be? They are a country with a vast history and a country, culture all their own. I would never want Mexico to be a part of the U.S. With the elimination of corruption and control of the drug trade, Mexico could truly become a very wealthy country because of it's rich resources.
Why not, we let in some of those former Canadian provinces like North Dakota and Michigan. But I think we should first decide if we will let in Seattle, Arizona and New Mexico.
