St. Louis is great because it is smack dab in the middle of the country, it is finally beginning to emerge from the rubble of the rustbelt, it focuses its activities around its entire metro area in addition to its activities in the city. St. Louis is a great sports town. In the past 6 years the Cards have won the World Series and the Rams have won a superbowl. It is a city with true culture and character and a true identity unlike many other cities in the United States. We experience all four seasons at their fullest. there are so many things to do here that it never gets boring. We've got Forest Park, two colleges two highly ranked colleges, Washington University and Saint Louis University, we are headquarters for upwards of 9 major companies and historically many more, and we have a rich and interesting history. Frankly, there are so many special things to me about St. Louis that I think it would be hard for me to choose to live in another city. You also can't forget the Arch...a world wonder and the signature of our city. St. Louis has so many original foods it is not even funny. We have one of the top-rated zoos in the United States, the St. Louis Science Center, Six Flags, Anheuser Busch, a great transit system, the Metrolink, which is only slated to get better as time goes on, and St. Louis City is finally growing in population again for the first time in a long time. We gave the world the hot dog, barbecued spare ribs and Maull's barbecue sauce, the ice cream cone, gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli, Imo's pizza, Hardee's, the brain sandwich, Budweiser, Bud Light, Busch beer. We have the historic courthouse where Dred Scott was freed by St. Louis and the state of Missouri (the Supreme Court overturned the ruling, starting the Civil War). We are at the meeting of likely the two greatest rivers in North America, the Missouri River and the Mississippi River, as well as more rivers like the Meramec and Des Peres. Our landscape is very interesting as well. THe Northern half of the St. Louis metro area is flat with rolling hills and many trees and cornfields while the Southern half of the St. Louis metro is even more hilly with many cliffs and river bluffs. There are many casino boats along both the Missouri and Mississippi in Alton as well as St. Charles and of course Downtown St. Louis. St. Louis County has Downtown Clayton and high-rises do not disappear in St. Louis City until you are basically west of CHesterfield and St. Charles. We also have a very efficient interstate highway system and many interstate highways at that, making it very easy and efficient to navigate. (I-44, I-55, I-64, I-70, I-170, I-255, I-270, Missouri State Route 364 (Future Interstate 364), Missouri State Route 370 (essentially should be called Interstate 370, is an interstate grade road). St. Louis is a great Midwestern city, my favorite one behind Chicago. In some ways it is better than Chicago I think because it doesn't feel too big nor does it feel too small.

Yeah, and then maybe they can provide links to flickr photosets instead of dumping 372 pictures into a single post so that a thread takes half an hour to load...
