It seems like more and more people hate that certain accent in a certain area. Like i have a NJ accent, from Newark.. and some people love it and some people despise it.

I notice people get embarrassed of there regions accent and try to deny that a certain place with a large amount of people have a certain accent.

What's so great about the regular all American accent? It's boring to me.
Having an accent gives you that uniqueness to you that shows everyone where you come from. I don't think it's "trashy" or "ignorant", because it's just as easy to say the same about the all American accent since that isn't the proper way to speak English either. There is no "right" way anymore.

I appreciate all accents and I like hearing them from people because it shows where they're from and shows how much of a difference it is just to see someone from the same country as me but talk differently. It kind of gives you character.

So i like them.. what about you?

I like a soft southern drawl (i.e. Rhett Butler) but I automatically deduct 30 IQ points when I hear a hick-like twang. (i.e. Cooter or Larry the Cable Guy, etc...)

Other than that, an accent is usually interesting to me. I LOVE a British or Australian accent.

New Jersey accents turn me on fiercely! When I hear a guy yell "HAWWT DAWWGG!!" my tail starts wagging! It surely beats our Scranton accents! LOL!

This is on the same line that Newarkbomb was talking about (American English isn't the true English) but some people in my region with thick accents actually pronounce some words like the English and this is true with a lot of the coastal areas in this country.

I like accents too. My favorite ones aren't really the ones I hear in this country because they're becoming too common for me and I don't really think nothing of it when I hear them but my favorite ones are the New Orleans. I really like foreign accents (Jamaican, Italian, Argentinian, French, etc) because...I just do.

I like people from New Orleans accents. I am from Alabama, and y'all know I have a thick southern accent and dialect. My accent is in the middle of soft/gentle and just plain country! You say "drawer", I say "draw." You say "door", I say "do." You say "girl", I say "gul." You say "turn those lights off", I say "cut dem lights off!"

Not to criticize, I don't like proper accents. They get on my nerves! I am used to my country accent! Sorry!!!!!!!!

I like accents in general. I do think southern accents are very pretty, especially the New Orleans/Alabama/Georgia accents. Sometimes northeastern accents get on my nerves, as do the accent just south of here, which tend to be more nasal than the southern accents.

Everybody has an accent. It's interesting to hear them.

I love accents and trying to figure out where someone is from. There is only one accent that I can't stand, and I don't mind hearing it from men, but women with that accent irritate the bleep out of me. It will remain nameless.
