Northwestern Illinois is part of the Driftless Area that also covers Wisconsin, Iowa and parts of Minnesota. Illinois also has the Great River Road with cliffs and bluffs all up and down the Mississippi:
It's already been pointed out by the OP, but I think most people forget that Eastern Oregon is much closer in look and spirit to Nevada or the Desert Southwest or even Wyoming than it is to Western Oregon. A lot of it is pure cowboy country--it couldn't be further removed from the stereotypes of Portland or even the rainsoaked lumberjacks of the coast range.
I would say a lot of people forget about CA's Central Valley. Just a huge, very flat, conservative agricultural region.
Those areas look like the great plains.
The evergreen forests of Northern CA are another feature no one thinks about. Even in our state. If someone outside on the East Coast saw these pictures, they would think its Oregon or WA state. But its only 2 he's away from the Bay and Sac.
I'd maybe say Letchworth State Park, the 1000 islands and the sandy shores of eastern Lake Ontario in NY.
