Researchers tried to map the US based on mood. They asked residents of each state to take personality surveys. Some criterion were curiosity and preference for novelty, self-discipline and dependability, sociability and compassion.
Where do you belong based on your mood? Take the quiz and find out
Apparently I belong in Maine. That seems about right. I could see myself living in Maine. I asked my husband about transferring there once but apparently they don't have any US Forest Service offices. With all those trees, who would have thought?
It says I belong in Montana. Interesting. Never been there but have always wanted to go, but don't think I can take living that far from a beach or major city. I was spoiled growing up close to NYC and can't imagine being that far from it. It's really as home to me as NJ is.
I took the quiz, and got...Oregon. Where I live, heh...
So despite occasionally complaining about my state in reality(though I love parts of it as well), I guess for introverted but friendly unconventional types, Oregon is a good fit.
The funny thing was, I went back to the quiz and left the rest of the questions the same yet changed the critical/quarrelsome question from a medium 4 to highly agree 6 and got Washington. Which actually is fairly accurate since people in Seattle and Washington in general tend to be a little more opinionated and agrumentative in some ways than Oregon. But if I then moved up the anxious/easily upset category from 4 to 7--I got New York.

I noticed that as well. The only things separating New York from the West Coast is a few degrees of disagreeability and neuroticism. Who knew?
Also if you answer every question as "7" or strongly agree(even though these answers would contradict each other), you get Texas as a result. Because everyone in Texas picks the "biggest" answer so they max out each response apparently....
