I don't understand the OP. Bigger houses are more expensive because they are bigger. Rich people have more toys and people to store in their houses. If you're rich and don't want 4 bedrooms, then your house will be a little cheaper. Is the OP saying they want to overpay for a house?
As for the debate about extra rooms, a house is a highly personal endeavor. I for one would LOVE to have a guest room and a game room. But even I know I wouldn't entertain often enough to have that be useful, but it's a fun thought. I think that's the case with most people. Like those people who get a pool table (again, I'd love one), use it for a month, and then go years without looking at it. If you've got disposable cash, you're going to buy toys you don't "need." And that's okay with me.
