I'm going out on a limb with this one as most of what is said, recorded, or discussed with this topic is largely anecdotal, or perhaps suppressed, nonetheless an interesting discussion. What states, regions, particular towns and cities have had reports of UFO sightings, or perhaps have rumored activity of alien/extra terrestrial encounters? The discussion criteria can be mere rumors, conspiracies, or something deeper. Are there areas of the US that perhaps may have even developed a subculture around it? Discuss all aspects be it serious or even a little humor if you will.

The movie "Fire in the Sky" based on claimed events in Snowflake Arizona. The Rim country of Arizona had a lot of stories of these kind in the 70's. March 13th 1997, the Phoenix Lights. The most witnessed UFO sighting ever. Tens of thousands of people saw them for an extended period one night over one of the largest cities in America. AZ governor at the time Fife Symington held a press conference mocking the sighting the next day and the national media reported it as a oddball back page story, but Symington was about to face impeachment for involvement in a real estate scandal and wasn't about to own up to seeing strange lights in the sky. He changed his tune later with CNN; Anderson Cooper Fife symington admits UFO coverup and seeing Boomerang UFO - YouTube
On the west side, Luke Air Force Base's phones were lit up all night with people asking questions about military aircraft. Sightings began near Laughlin NV and Kingman AZ, 911 calls increased in volume near Prescott Valley, and the first sighting in the PHX metro was in the far north valley around Deer Valley while the final sightings were 25 miles south, past South Mountain.A lot of people remember that night here and know someone who saw it even if they didn't or at least have heard the stories often.
Roswell, New Mexico. Home of one of the most well known UFO incidents of all time. New Mexico in general seems to be more receptive to the idea of extra terrestrial activity, too. So I've heard, at least.
As Cacto said, the "Phoenix Lights" is another well known incident.

Wisconsin has the second highest number of UFO sightings in the country. Most are centered around the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine or in Dundee (The UFO Capital of Wisconsin)
Dundee is weird, the world's largest moulin kame (Dundee Mtn) hovers over the town. Very isolated back in the moraines, tiny glacial lakes and troll-like mini-mountain hills stuck in a quiet region between Lake Winnebago and Lake Michigan.
Well I don't think it should be a negative-people see what they see. I'd love to see something paranormal like that. I just hope I believe my eyes when I do haha.
