I'm not sure why you're so fascinated by mentioning Springfield is is the "charcoal briquette capital of the USA" over and over again.
Springfield is a shorter drive away from the U of O campus than Autzen Stadium.....

California has too much population to have true college towns. Unless they have a college on the interior or eastern part of the state.

Look north in California. Davis for sure, Arcata most likely, Chico probably.

Ok I have not made it out to California yet.

Do these colleges have athletic programs? They sound more like branch schools off the flagships of UCLA or USC.

I associate college towns with people tailingating on the campus grounds on Saturdays but that might only be true of college towns in the South and a few up north like Penn State.

Actually, they have a good football program that plays on the FCS level of Division 1 and the Basketball has had some good seasons over the years including making the NCAA Tournament last year.

Also, nice screen name in honor of a SC HS Basketball power in Columbia.

It's just north of the actual campus, though the sporting facilites for the University of Oregon.

It's a moot point, because Autzen obviously wouldn't exist if there wasn't a University of Oregon... It's owned and operated by the university. Without U of O being there, that area would just be a regional park and not a collection of sporting venues.

Which would prove what? And people just walk across the footbridge to Autzen, it's not that far from the campus.

Ok.

Is this school private or public?

I remembe them sending me info about their school when I was still in high school. Never figured out how they got my info, plus I grew up in SC. Pretty weird.

It is the University of Montana, which is a state college/university.
