When I listen to music I am transported to an alternate place. Now I am not talking about the "Oh, this song reminds me of our vacation to Florida," response. I mean certain songs give me the vibe of a certain place and I thought it would be cool for people to listen to the song in the post above and explain what state/city/locale they envisage.
I'll start of with an example. Whenever I listen to Bruce Springsteen I am transported to a gritty, working class Northeastern city however if I listen to disco music I imagine LA.
Start off with this:

To me the above are self-evident, Los Angeles and NYC.
This one is too specific, reminding me of sunning on the tiny back landing to my first apartment near USC in SoCal on a rare day off from work and school and trying to release stress from both.
Some Springsteen songs sound like the boardwalks of the Jersey Shore. A live version of 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) I have incorporated carousel music and other classic NJ boardwalk sounds I recall from my childhood, growing up going to Wildwood, Cape May, Seaside, and Point Pleasant. I can close my eyes when hearing this song (and live versions of Jersey Girl, which incorporates the same sounds) and feel like I'm on the beach. Springsteen fits the unique Jersey Shore sound, I would argue he started it. I hear his songs and feel like I'm down the shore, no matter what time of day or year.
This isn't the exact version I'm thinking of (what I thinking of comes from an album of his live performances) but it is very close.
I've lived in Texas for twenty five years and this song perfectly captures the feel of just about every small Texas town I've ever driven through - and I love it:
But this is my favorite song in the entire world, and every time I hear it, I am immediately transported back in time to when I lived in Germany...driving through the beautiful German countryside and those quaint villages, past towering castle ruins, vineyards, rivers, exploring with my little kids along for the ride...it almost hurts me the memories are so sweet and poignant...
