Chicago has its 77 defined community areas. Its issue is that some of those areas are neighborhoods alone while others have smaller neighborhoods located within them.

It may not be as firmly defined as you'd like, but when you ask people where they live here they're going to tell you the neighborhood and typically not what side of the city because that's far too vague of a statement.
