Thank you all for your responses. Positive rep for all of you! I have expanded my options to Raleigh, maybe even Charlotte. I will consider Hampton Roads area in VA, it just seems to close to Norfolk which I wasn't impressed with. I will be visiting Raleigh for first time in November. Unless anyone convinces me otherwise, I think that's what I may favor first. Any thoughts would be appreciated as always. Thanks again!

May I ask, what was it about Norfolk that you didn't like? Also, when was the last time you visited?

I visited at the beginning of last Autumn, which could slightly taint my observations of it, being that the "season" was coming to an end. It just seemed a bit run down in most parts. Downtown was alright in my opinion, better than anywhere else. I passed through a few months ago this summer and it didn't seem as bad as I initially thought; Just not what I was looking for I suppose. Then again, I am not a local and do not know the in's or outs.
I meant no offense to you or anyone living there who stands behind it. Perhaps I need to take another look before I pass final judgement. I am from Charleston and absolutely love it more than likely because I have spent so much time there and feel at home. If you can recommend me a decent area to reside in, I will certainly be open minded and plan another visit! Thanks!
