I don't feel that way at all. Dallas is another city that I think looks better at night, but it's not the extreme difference you get with Houston.
That's because night time hides or atleast reduces a lot of Houston's "ugly". But personally, I still believe that all of Dallas' tacky lights at night time make it look ALOT more vibrant than it really is. That facade is more drastic than Houston's day/night contrast, IMO.
By day El Paso looks like an overgrown dusty town, with a lackluster skyline. But at night, from Transmountain or Scenic drive, it looks like a metropolis (with the lights from nearby Ciudad Juarez, also not a very enticing city by day, adding to its dimensions).
Corpus Christi also looks more larger dazzling at night, as you do not notice that the "skyline" that reflects on the bay also includes many refineries.

El Paso has the most compact urban area of all the major Texas cities. I'd love to see how it lights up at night.
