Our freeway system is pretty well designed overall, but some areas do get pretty clogged during rush hour (true rush hour...not hourS...or if there is a big sporting event)

I-64 and 270 both see the worst traffic in certain areas during those times. Most times of day, traffic is easygoing here. But there is definitely a rush hour.

I live sort of in between 64 and 44, closer and more convenient to 64, but if I need to go downtown during rush hour...I go to 44 because it's smooth and easy by comparison.

Phoenix is pretty good, but we need to work a little bit more in the West Valley

West Valley is fine. You have I10, 101, 303 and the expanding Northern Parkway. Surface streets are easy. Some older roads like MC85 allow you to cut through and pretty much any surface street that runs over the agua fria you can cruise on

Could continue to improve access into Surprise .... Bell stinks. Dysart can get freaky contested as well, but not all that unique.

For the population it's solid

Bell is a nightmare. I remember living out in Surprise... Then when I first moved to Glendale, I still had to drive to Sun City often... Talk about horrible. Grand is the only other option, and that might even be worse than Bell, I'm not too sure.

The thing is is that right now most of the commuting traffic focuses all on the I-10 for at least a few miles after the 101 until Downtown. What I think West Valley really needs is an East-West freeway of some sort to take off demand on the I-10 . I heard of the proposed expansion of the 202 onto Pecos road and I believe they want to put the new loop around 53 or 55th Avenue (or at least close to there) which would help the semis and may take off some demand of commuters but not too much I'd say.

I didn't hear about the Northern expansion. I'd have to look into that.

They have started some home demolitions and just awarded the bid for the 202 South Mountain freeway. This connects at I 10 at 51st ave and cuts under South Mountain and back to the 10 at Ahwatukee. Saying 2020 for a completion date, but this thing has been delayed since 1984.

That should help some. Commuting on 10 does suck, but fish hour in most places is bad. The bottleneck b downtown has no easy fix though.

Northern Parkway will be nice. It's already complete to around Litchfield or Dysart. Will run eventually from the 303 to the 101. I heard it may push all the way to grand. Will make another nice southern entrance into Surprise.

Bell is absolutely awful. Not sure of there is an easy E/W fix for northern Surprise

On existing Indian School, Camelback, Glendale or Northern I can cover from the 101 to Litchfield in 10 minutes which isn't bad

Northern Surprise could easily be fixed... it's called expanding Grand Avenue (Bell will forever and always be a mess and is a lost cause). But I doubt if that will gain traction because that means cutting through Sun City and all the retirees will fight that tooth and nail.
