Here are the top 9 US tourist destinations this summer: Top 9 U.S. Cities Americans Are Traveling To This Summer.

A couple of surprises - both for those listed and those not.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The headline is completely misleading.

If anything, this might be percentage increase.

Do you really think Phoenix or Jackson Hole are getting more visitors than New York? Do people not have even the most basic BS detectors?

Further, they're basing it on travel bookings via American Express. That will tend to favor certain demographics.

And how much of it is business travel? If you're surprised that Dallas or Atlanta is getting visitors, you're clearly not thinking of the business side or friends & family, which in some places are the vast majority of visitors. Being a tourism destination can be less consequential.

Default Phoenix AZ is where it's at.

I can see why all the other cities made the list but I have to agree....for Atlanta it is definitely business visitors.

Same thing with Dallas. It's a business hub not a tourist destination.

One reason I posted is that it's nice to see Phoenix featured in a positive light, for a change. Phoenix often takes it on the chin in CD.
