I'm not voting because many of those listed are "northern." I don't really think any one of them stands out as being quintessentially northern.

I know the feeling. I don't get what "southern" means in most of the 10,000 threads related to southerness.

Boston, hands down. A great big symbol of the northeast. NYC would come before Boston you'd think but Boston just has this all around northern feel. If by northern you mean total Yankee northeastern culture.
