Other than a lot of NY transplants there are no similarities. Just to point out a few things..NY doesn't have the climate or the miles of coastal beach that South Beach has. The demographics are different and there is also a more relaxed pace in SB. Southbeach (like NY) is super unique in the U.S. and it looks and feels more like places like Jamaica, Hiati, DR, Cuba and Columbia while NY has a heavy Italian, Asian,African American, and Puerto Rican influence.
