I wonder what kind of drugs the "mapmaker" was on at the time. It's full of fantasy, naivety, and assumptions. These kind of "maps" are a dime a dozen on the Internet these days.
That is the crapiest and most inaccurate map I've seen in a while. I think the census map is more accurate and generally accepted than that crap.
The only thing CLEARLY wrong with the census map is including Delaware with the South. It belongs with PA and NJ. We can quibble about the placement of a few others, but that’s just flat out wrong.

There are many other issues. North Texas being part of the Appalachian, for example, which is hilarious.

I was referring to the census map, not this ridiculous map. It isn’t just North Texas, they extended Appalachia through central Texas. Austin and Waco are in Appalachia. Austin and San Antonio are different regions.
I also disagree with Yankeedom stretching so far West. The upper Midwest and the Northeast are distinctly different. Even the personality types of the residents, with the Midwesterners nicer and friendlier.

I think the point of the 11 Nation Map, had more to do with cultures and ideologies, and less than just grouping neighboring states into groups for census purposes, if you know what I mean.
There will always be the traditional identifiers, such as, the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Deep South, Intermountain West, or Pacific Northwest, etc., the creator/author was trying to look at this, from "outside the box" and against the "norms" if you will.

Yes, so do I. This one had me had me wondering how this combination came about.
