When I saw the title, I thought "maybe a night at a hotel in SF!"
But for 500K, actually some decent mid-range places in the DC area, but you're not going to be in a prime, upscale area for the most part. I myself personally am at around that level in terms of a possible purchase. I see a lot of older (midcentury) 3 bed/2 baths through the $400's in the eastern side of Silver Spring.
Right at $500K, here are a couple of a rowhouses in DC's Brightwood Park, the first 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, the second 3/2. It can be a sketchy neighborhood in spots and is pretty far from a Metro stop, though nothing like it was in the '80s/90s:
At a possibly negotiable $520K, here is a 2/2 condo occuping one floor of a rowhouse in a somewhat nicer neighborhood, walkable to some shops/restaurants and about a 15 minute walk to the Metro: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...le_map-listing
Here's a 2 bed/2 bath ground floor apartment in a historic building along a busy street with frequent bus service also right at that $500K level:
There’s no shortage of single family houses in San Diego County for under $500K. Everyone will come with some sacrafice. Whether it’s good schools, a longer commute, or higher temps averaging in the mid to upper 80’s during summer. You can’t have all 3 without paying a very high premium.
I agree. I quite like the front elevation as well.
