I have been living in the Permian Basin for decades.I like to say i wasnt born in Midland but i got here as fast i could. It does not have a very high quality of life but its still my home.It includes a lot of West Texas and about 2 or 3 Counties in Southeast New Mexico:Eddy,Lea and Chaves Counties. The 3 main Texas hubs are Midland,Odessa and San Angelo.
Some of the main New Mexico cities are Hobbs,Carlsbad and Roswell.Midland and Odessa have a international airport.San Angelo is relatively close to the Hill Country and is less isolated from the Texaplex. There's also Big Spring with easy access to M/O and slighly prettier and more appealing scenery than Midland/Odessa.
Hobbs would give easy access to Lubbock.Carlsbad has the caverns and Guadalupe Mountains.Roswell has the Alien thing goin on for them and is closer to the ABQ and Santa Fe.Lets say you making 365,000 gross a year...Which of those places is more appealing to you???I left out numerous small towns in the region that were too numerous to list. Also, please tell your reasons why you chose what you chose. Thanks in advance.
Hi Heel82.....no it wasnt sarcasm.....its just had a place i have been living in for so long and i am tired of it.Like there are so many better places i could live instead of the Energy Basin.

Oh, just curious. Why do you have to wait years to leave? I’ll be honest, I know next to nothing about the area. But Google makes Odessa look quirky fun (replica Stonehenge AND a Globe Theatre?).

because i am moving with my family after my folks retire and also im waiting to make moves until i have made some extra cash from the business.Ive driven by the Stonehenge replica countless times but never visited that sight. There is a Globe replcia at the local junior college in town.
I have no desire to live in that region. I've at least been through most of the towns. If I had to, I'd probably choose Midland, since it's the biggest. Still, for me, these towns are too small and the local landscape isn't beautiful enough make up for not being in a bigger city.
