I've lived in FL and Texas. I'm not really sure, but I've heard good things about Austin, TX being very "with it", cultured etc.... Or maybe, Tampa? I don't really know about your budget? They are both warm and ambitious, I think.

Los Angeles and San Diego probably meet that criteria better than any others.

Los Angeles fails in the healthy category with its persistent smog problems, unless you live right on the coast.

I have a friend who took a business transfer to Atlanta a few years ago for all of those reasons (plus he was single and there are more women than men, at least there were a few years ago!). I visited him in fall 2004 and Atlanta seemed very nice to me, very clean and modern. He lived in the outskirts of the city, had a really nice apartment with all kinds of amenities dirt cheap.
I also have heard good things about Austin, TX but do not know anything about it personally.

Austin is nice, but they have a HORRIBLE road/freeway system. Before we decided on San Antonio, we were looking at both Austin and SA, but we couldn't handle the traffic in Austin. The primary routes in and out of Austin are two-lane highways. Being from CA and wanting to get away from gridlock and traffic, Austin just wasn't for us. It's pretty though! We found SA to be more "our speed" s far as the freeway systems go and ease of getting from one place to another in a relatively short amount of time. Plus it's hilly like Austin.

If you can afford it, San Diego sounds like the perfect fit for you.

Albuquerque, NM!

Forbes listed ABQ as the best city for business and careers. Men's Fitness has named ABQ as the fittest city in the USA. And we have generally mild weather year-round (while still getting all 4 seasons) with plenty of sunshine. And still very affordable, especially compared to areas like San Diego.
