It’s foreign born MENA countries. It won’t count places like Pakistan, Turkey, or Iran.
Yeah, I understand. Pakistan clearly isn’t part of the Middle East, but Turkey and Iran generally are included as a part of the Middle East by most standard definitions. And some North African countries would not.

Only going by the definitions as they are defined by the ACS. It depends on it. Sometimes MENA is all one, some times its just countries from the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant Region. Iran and Turkey are never included in the ACS or Census with the other countries.

For me its not a guess. My hubby is Middle Eastern. His family is all in MI, NY & CA
I don't know how much it's changed in the last 10-15 years, but Mt Clements and Sterling Heights used to be big Chaldean places. Chaldeans are Assyrian Catholics, and many moved to metro Detroit (Macomb county mostly) in the 80s from persecution in Iraq. They are middle eastern, but NOT Arabic. They don't even speak arabic, they speak Chaldean (Northeastern Neo-Aramaic).
As of the 2000 census, 34k Chaldean and other Assyrians lived in the US. 4.5% of Sterling Heights was Chaldean at that time.
Location: That star on your map in the middle of the East Coast, DMV

This. Chaldeans are Middle Eastern and not Arabic. Israel is in the Middle East, and the people are not Arabic nor Muslim. Pakistan, Afghanistan, are not the Middle East.
In many places across America today, but the Detroit metropolitan area - especially Dearborn (the largest Arab population in the US by percentage - nearly 50%) - is really the center of things. Arab communities have existed in the area since the 1870's, and you'll find near-universal love for Dearborn amongst all in the Arab community, regardless of what State is currently called home.
A large number of Israelis live in Los Angeles and NYC
