We already have a thread going where people can compliment the frequently-bashed cities. So I though I'd start another one where people can say nice things about frequently-ignored cities that tend to be overlooked all-together.
Choose a city (or two, or however many you want) from the list and give them compliments.
Some frequently-ignored cities:

Might have missed some. I just worked my way across the map.
Two cities in my area that I would say are very overlooked are Santa Ana and Anaheim, CA which are both the largest cities in my county (Orange). Santa Ana has 340,000 people and Anaheim has 334,000 people and both are the center of the 5th most populous county in the USA with almost 3 million people. Yet due to the continuous flow of these cities into Los Angeles, they are often ignored and not well known. Los Angeles is like the giant tree casting a shadow over Anaheim and Santa Ana. I'm curious if people from outside California have heard of Anaheim and Santa Ana because in my experience they usually haven't been, so have you heard of these two cities?
My nice things:
Reno has some nice casinos, a more scenic location than Las Vegas, and is close to beautiful Lake Tahoe.
Salt Lake City is really clean and is near some awesome ski resorts. The backdrop of the mountains is pretty also.
Albuquerque has one of the better Southwest climates and a great combination of Mexican and Native American culture. And who can't love those scenic photos of the Balloon Fiesta.
- Reno - Beautiful views, close to the mountains and Tahoe, light traffic
- Albuquerque - lovely weather, clean desert smell, specific interesting local culture (Navajo and Mexican cultural influences), close to great skiing in Southern Colorado, nice views, sunny
- El Paso - something nice? hmmm... it doesn't take long to drive through as quickly as possible on I-10, and it's very well lit at night, particularly along the border. :P
- Savannah - ok place for a short visit along the waterfront, get a little home cookin' and Southern hospitality
Have been to SLC, Hartford and Memphis, but can't think of anything nice to say.
---------Oh, taking cue from another poster, I stand corrected...Memphis has good BBQ ribs.

hartford actually has a very polished downtown and is a good size for connecticut's capital city. it does have very ritzy suburbs too. if someone came to visit he/she would be surprised at its appearance..it looks like anything but a world class ghetto.... and the civic center in the middle of the city made for some great concert experiences for me..i still think it a cool city.
and very urban which is a major plus

Great thread! Several of those cities are among my favorites.
I used to live in Memphis, and it is waaayyy overlooked and much maligned, admittedly some of it deserved.
Memphis has a cool downtown. It's got a nice skyline with some great older high-rises. Beale Street is FUN. Lots of good bbq, lots of good live music (blues and rock). Rolling Stone magazine once said it's America's 2nd best party street (Bourbon Street in New Orleans was ranked 1st).
Memphis has some great in-town neighborhoods. Its parkways are among the most beautiful in the country. When the state was planning on building an interstate along the Memphis waterfront, the citizens rose up in protest and killed it. Now there's a beautiful riverfront park where the symphony plays and where the Memphis in May bbq festival takes place.

Charleston, South Carolina is quite appealing w/ great seafood & nice beaches.
Charlotte, North Carolina has huge trees & beautiful setting
Grand Junction, Colorado is also quite scenic w/ nearby rivers & mountains
Tucson, Arizona, also scenic & cooler summers than Phoenix
Pittsburgh, PA sits in a beautiful valley w/ rivers & mountains
The list goes on & on of really nice though relatively unknown cities in the U.S.
