I chose a small-to-medium-sized city. I currently live on the fringe of a city of 72,000 in a metropolitan area of 551,000, and I feel as if we're the perfect size. Do we have professional sports? No, but we have AAA minor-league teams. Do we have five-star dining? Actually up until recently no, but the growth of the casino industry has now brought us Wolfgang Puck, Ruth's Chris, etc. We have moderate traffic congestion on our freeways, but jams are very rare. We have just enough white-collar opportunity to finally start retaining some of our college graduates. In my opinion in a city the size of mine you get most of the benefits of living in a much larger urban center with a fraction of the congestion, pollution, traffic, noise, and crime.
