For me, I hate saying my hometown is Templeton, Ca.

I was born at St. John's Hospital in Oxnard, went to elementary school there, and lived there til I was 8.

Then my family moved us to a rural town called Templeton and I have lived there 13 years so far.

I went to high school here, community college in another area, and probably going to college in this area.

However, all my relatives are from Southern California. And that's where I'd like to say I'm from.

Well, see I was born in Bremerton, Washington and lived there until I was 10. Then, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee and I'm living here until I'm 18. Then, I'm going back to Washington. So, I consider Bremerton my hometown.

It's where you grew up.

I agree with this post. (a year later )

I say its wherever you were born, even if you moved away at a young age.

To me "hometown" can have different meanings for different people. For me, I moved a lot as a kid, but the reason I choose Oregon as my home is because most of my dad's family lives there and it's where I spent much of my early childhood. I feel at home there more than any place else.
Some people just feel "at home" in certain places, it's quite natural.

I consider the town I graduated HS graduation from as my hometown.
Jersey City

I was born in The Bronx though.

To me, your hometown is hometown if you spent the majority of your childhood growing up there, especially from a very young age.

I think it is where you spent most of the time from 4-18, because that is where your main support system is, your friends, family ect.

Where I was born and spent my formative years - Los Angeles. I've lived in other places, but find that I fit into that metro area well.

Next in line would be the northern NJ suburbs of NYC. Most of my relatives in the US lived in that general area, so that feels "familiar" too.
