Image is important in both cities but for different reasons—in NYC it’s about the school you went to, firm you work for (prestige) etc whereas LA has a little more emphasis on material possessions (including the following—in NYC: I got drunk with my buddies last night. LA—more likely to attach a price tag on a day to day basis by adding with a bottle of Dom…though there’s usually a Hamptons reference somewhere during the summer).

Both thrive and get off on “who you know”.

NYC tends to be somewhat more grounded—you will be called out for BS to your face and if you get too big for your britches you will be brought back down to earth (like the crab that’s just about to climb out of a bucket getting pulled back down by the other crabs).

Overall, LA is more looks conscious since the better climate reveals more of their bodies more of the year.

This is accurate if we are strictly talking about physical body appearance/fitness etc and all one has to do is google something along the lines of most health conscious or physically fit cities in the US. LA comes out ahead of NYC in this regard from what I've seen but neither are #1.

Not some thing you see in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles was never into baggy clothes not now and not even in the 90s.
Uhhh my family from Los Angeles definitely wore baggy clothes in the mid 90s/early 00's. I don't know any black community in America during that time period that didn't wear baggy clothes and do-rags. Locks definitely wasn't heavy in LA though.

But when I see media depicting Black LA fashion back in the 90s it was usually the stereotypical Khaki dickie pants, nike sandals and flannel shirt or muscle shirt w/ some locs on.

I hear Portland and Seattle strangely enough is more image conscious than Houston or Anchorage.
