I wouldn't stay in one state. If I had to, I'd probably pick a city overseas. With 50 mil, I'd certainly have different properties in my fave cities.

I think the rule is you get the 50 million and you can only stay in that state. California is probably a good choice for most people given its huge diversity of cities/towns/molehills, demographics, weather, and topography.

Anyhow, I'm sticking with my answer even though I hate winters. I'll probably have to build a giant greenhouse complex. Fresh bananas and papayas on Belle Isle anyone?

If you won 50 million the issue should be what state you were in when you won... CA would steal about 70% of it in taxes.. why would you want to live there?

$50 mil and I am in California. I would have a nice spread in Marin overlooking the Golden Gate and a getaway condo in the Hollywood Hills. Now, do I have enough left over of the $50 mil to buy a beer?? Maybe in today's housing market. But they keep raising the beer tax too!!

who cares where you live? With 50 million, I'd spend my life travelling anyway.

If I had $50 million dollars, I would buy a mansion in Orlando, an apartment in Tel-Aviv, and another apartment in either Sydney or Melbourne.

I would stay in Florida and get a beach house. I'd also like a log cabin on a lake in Michigan where I would spend the holidays.
