I've lived in a handful of these states (FL, MA, PA, and OH) and I find the list to be pretty accurate for the most part. I found the average Floridian to be much happier and content with their lives as opposed to people in the northeast. As always, take stuff like this with a grain of salt.

Happiness is so subjective, i am surprised they even have this poll!. A person living in a not so happy state might have the love of a family, a smaller house and be happy. And the person living in a so called happy city may yet be miserable mainly because of his attitude towards life. Jeez. If a city could make anyone happy everyone would move there. lol

Exactly. Just because a place has a higher percentage of people who consider themselves happy doesn't mean that I'd be happy there. Conversely, New York came in dead last. Is it that NYers are so unhappy, or is it that they are the complaining champions of the US?
I'm a complainer. It's my nature. I'm usually over it very quickly and I'm not at all unhappy, but if a pollster heard my kvetching, he'd think I was miserable.

This list is BS; If TX isn't number 1 it's invalid.

Wow, this list is almost nightmarish. Some I can agree with being high on the list, like maybe Tennesee, but NY in last place?!

Also Florida, all the way up there? The State with the second highest divorce rate in the country, and the third worst education system, aka hell for the children?

Maybe they were surveying all the half-dead 70 year olds in Boca who are enjoying their fake paradise on that godforsaken sandbar from hell.

This is all coming from a native Floridian.

Oh and Florida is #1 in terms of sex-offenders and car-related deaths. Don't believe any of the stuff I'm saying? Go ahead and backcheck me.

Maybe they were surveying sex offenders, who are very proud that their state is leading the nation in something.
