I once saw the St. Paul skyline all the way from county 42 just north of Hastings about 2-3 miles south of Spring Lake Park. I'm guessing thats about 20 miles.

Another one. I can see One Kansas City Place many times on a clear day from the southern I35-I435 interchange in south Lenexa (13-15 miles). I can also see the KC skyline from 151st street between Antioch and Switzer, just before the Johnson County Library heading east (25 miles).

I wonder how far away you can see NYC?!?!?

Anybody have any examples???
It wouldn't be as far. One must remeber that the east coast has a pretty rolling topography in general that only becomes more so the further west one goes.

nice pictures, but I'm doubting 50 miles (first pix). I'm about 50 miles away at the same latitude as this picture (this picture was taken in NJ), and you cannot see Manhattan from anywhere near me. I'll give you 35 miles.

You can see New York City from Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ on extremely clear days. Much easier at night though. That's about 71 miles away.

yeah, there was some discussion on whether that was an urban legend or not. Some people said you could see Philly & New York on either side of you for a split second.
