any info on the areas of Jasper county that are going through changes (negative or positive) that would help in consideration to buy property( around 100 acres). Are new industries coming in? Shady developers positioning for when the economy rebounds?

Any comments on areas to stay away from greatly appreciated.

Jasper county has Monticello as the county seat. Really, to be honest, there is not much that goes on out there. Did you at least drive around and take a look or talk with the chamber of commerce there? It is pretty far out to me and too far to live if you want to work in the Atlanta area. I like the downtown square of Monticello, but it definitely had seen better days some decades back. I know someone from the metro area who moved there from Henry county and did not care for the area, she was a school teacher, but I am sure it depends on the person.

Spent roughly 3 tanks of gas riding around. Really just looking for a bigger (100 -125 acres)parcel of land to get away on the weekends. I see a lot of smaller tracts with 10% down ,$295 a month in different places. Don't mind too much what people do on their land as long as it's kept up and not obnoxiously loud.. Thanks for the replies

Good to hear, I hope you liked what you saw in Jasper County. It sounds like you might get a good deal on acreage.
