‘Georgia is open for business:’ Gov. Kemp loosens COVID-19 restrictions across state

Describing pandemic restrictions as a ‘thing of the past,” Kemp said it was time to “return to our way of life in the Peach State.”

“Georgians know the right thing to do; they know the best practices to protect themselves and their families,” Kemp said. “Because of our measured approach, Georgia has emerged from this crisis more resilient than ever. From now on our message is clear: Georgia is open for business...”

I think it’s a bit early. 15% of the population is fully vaccinated, less than 30% partially.

I would have chosen a date when 50% of the population was likely to be partially vaccinated. That’s probably not far in the future. Certainly before Memorial Day

I got my second shot on Saturday, so I’ll be happy to eat out again in a couple of weeks. But I already see everyone dropping mask wearing which isn’t the smartest thing to do.

Me too. I'll be fully vaccinated in a few weeks as well.

I've resigned myself to the fact that as new variants emerge getting a covid shot will just be an annual thing just like the flu shot.

Many (if not most) of those restrictions were not being followed anyway (including the distance requirement in many restaurants, bars and nightclubs; and particularly the “Shelter-in-Place” order).

Plus, many states, including many states run by both Republicans and Democrats, are rolling back restrictions, particularly in advance of what is expected to be a heated and hotly contentious gubernatorial election season next year in 36 states.

Yo, people keep harping on the stupidest (but easiest buzzworthy) change in the bill, but I'm sure some people will find some humor in Kemp saying UberEats/Grubhub delivery is OK.
