My husband and I are in our mid 50's and want to move to Walker county Georgia. We know no one in that area and want to get some feedback from others who live there or are thinking of moving to that area. We live in Floridia now and hate the constant heat. I develop software and work from home, my husband is in sales. We probably would open a business (retail) of some type within a year of making the move. What businesses are needed in Walker county? What cities in Walker county would be recommended? Drawbacks to living in that area if any..input of any kind please! Thanks!

Dear Peanuts,
I have several posts on this site re: Walker County. I have a few new friends from this site that have also posted. In short, I think this is the best place God ever created. We are moving, in 2 months, down there from NC. Cannot wait. Did not find any place in Walker County that was not good. Chickamauga is my favorite though. You should be able to find all kinds of posts, including pics, if you search on this site for Chickamauga. Folks are very friendly there. Small, beautiful town, grreat schools. Wonderful parks for all sorts of outside activities. Do some searches and see what you find. If you have any questions afterward, feel free to PM me. Good luck to you! |

Ft Oglethorpe is probably one of the fastest growing areas in Walker Co. The main drag between there and Ringgold is Battlefield Parkway/2A and it's BOOMING! The changes in the last few years are quite amazing. There are the typical big box stores, movies, diners, strip malls, a high school, plant nurseries, grocers, etc... I cannot imagine what kind of business they need down there so I can't help you on that one. But I would say that area has the highest retail business of the few cities I am familiar with.
Chickamauga is of course my favorite - and other's as well Quaint downtown that DOES need someone new with a brilliant idea. I think they have done some good things down there lately and need some more good people to keep the ball rolling. |
