some of the cities mentioned do not have downtowns unless you consider an outdated strip mall with a few stores and a few fast food chains a downtown. Also the areas to the south and west tend to be farm fields and not wooded as in the North and NE of GR. I think Wayland might be a good fit some areas north of Holland near the lake are wooded otherwise Lowell (East) and Rockford (North) seem like more of what your asking for.
