It's only been the past 20 years where you hear about women 'sexual predators' at all. Just as you didn't hear about 'male rape' 20 years ago.
In the past, if a man went into a police station and said he was raped by a woman, he'd (probably) be laughed out of the building.
With teachers.. I hate to use the term 'accepted'.. But, until more recent times, it was certainly frowned upon.. But it normally didn't go to the criminal level. And I'm specifically talking about female teacher with male student.
Until VERY recently, a teacher (female at least) that had sex with a 16 year old student.. I don't think that was even a crime, pending on age of consent in the state it happened in. It's been quite recent that the "Sex by person in authority" crimes have been on the books.
I think a large part of the problem is two part. First, Internet porn is so prevalent. Kids today are much more sexually educated than they were before the Internet. A lot of Internet porn shows older women with younger men or boys. So I believe high school or even middle school boys are much more embolden when it comes to sexually approaching older women because they see and hear about it all of the time. Plus, kids are not reprimanded or disciplined like they used to be years ago, either at home or in school. So they don't fear any repercussions as much for their behavior. Sex is much more open, talked about, displayed, etc now than ever before.
Secondly, most of these women are emotionally immature. They are trying to relive their teenage years emotionally. They like being the center of attention and adulation of teenage boys that they probably never received growing up. When you dig deep into the issue, I doubt it is for physical or sexual purposes at its core. Most of these boys are hardly physically mature. They do not have the maturity of a man's body. In most cases, even a boy of 18 does not have a manly physical look to his body that an older man has. It is the same way for girls. A girl of 18 may have big boobs, shapely legs, curves, etc. But there is still something different about their body compared to an older girl or women in her 20's or 30's.
There is no way an emotionally mature women would be emotionally or sexually attracted to teenage boys.
When I went through school, I rarely seen a female teacher under 40. Most younger female teachers exist in K-5. I do remember a couple of hot school teachers in grade school but I've never seen a hot HS teacher. I always get the women in their late 40s or 50s and mostly male teachers in HS.
Either way I think it is unacceptable for any teacher to have any relationship with students. It's game when you are in college.
Twenty or so years ago, I never recall hearing of a female teacher being accused of have sex with an underage student. However, over the last decade or so, I have been continually reading about or hearing about female teachers who have been arrested for allegedly having sex with one or more underage students. And it appears that I am anything but the only person who has witnessed this trend.
My sense (strictly opinion) of things now is that teachers who have sex with their students are more likely to be female than male. I might be wrong but I don't think so.
In any event, things in this arena have definitely changed over the last twenty years. You can fairly color me an old buzzard, but the question I have to ask is: does anyone have any insight into what has been or is going on in the minds of women that has created or resulted in such wrongful behavior to a degree that has become hard for me to fathom much less understand?
It's tragic it has come to this. Now I am old and boy, do I wish a few female teachers way back when would have had their way with me! I wouldn't have told a soul and would have sought after their tutoring any chance I had.
Have Female Teachers Surpassed Male Teachers As Sexual Predators?
I don't recall reading any report, ever, that a boy in school has complained that he didn't willingly parlticipate or enjoy the sexual relationship he had with a female teacher.

The first time I read this, I thought NO and the replies didn't change my position.

Have you forgotten about Mary Kay Letourneau? There have always been female predatory teachers, but they'll never surpass the number of similarly-inclined male ones. It's just that the media in the last decade or so have sensationalized cases of female teachers, so it may seem like they outnumber men. You really don't hear much about the male teachers. Many tend to get away with that behavior.

I think part of it is because males are expected to act on urges. Women are expected to be classy so there is typically something they can fix. It's partially why we have created the female serial killer psychic profile.
No, it's just less likely for women to get away with it as in the past is all.
I would say they are more likely to get a lenient sentence based on their emotional background. If Mary Kay Letourneau was a male, she would have gotten the book thrown at her. You can think that with just about any of the nationally known female teachers who had sexual relationships with their student(s.)
