Different extinct civilizations had different things they worshiped in history. What do you think future ones will think of this ones obsessiveness and abuse of Marijuana? Will it be respectable or laughable to them? Will they realize how addictive it was and avoid becoming a civilization of pot-heads?
Marijuana isn't that addictive. It's much easier to become addicted to, say, alcohol. I think the only reason that it appears to be so abused nowadays is that it's the "cool" thing to do now...take a picture and post it on whatever social media site of you smoking. And even if you don't smoke or never smoke, get famous by making a retarded song about how many types of drugs you use at once, and then have a bunch of kids download your album or mixtape.
That is a good question. I would like to think that we will think marijuana prohibition was ridiculous, but then again, tobacco is just a plant as well and we are moving towards demonizing that.
I expect more robotics and chemical compounds in the future. Due to this, i fear that the mainstream may not appreciate "natural" as much as they should and that the appreciation will fall to an eco-counter culture.
To survive the challenges of the future will require substantial intelligence... by default drugs short circuit that ... so if future generations take up the challenge they would shake their heads at what is going on today
Its the dumbing down and dilution of our country through the acceptance of escapism into the haze of drugs....

and prohibition lowers drug use how exactly?
What future generations will look at in disbelief is our stupid drug prohibition. Just like everybody instinctively knows that alcohol prohibition can never work, so will people in 50 years time instinctively know that drug prohibition could never work.

Isn't tobacco a more extreme case of everything you"ve described rather than marijuana?

Well said.
I think it is fine when folks use marujuana for medicinal purposes but what I disagree with is when kids use it and do stupid things.. "I'm so wasted....."
Drugs are an excuse that too many use and a means of excape that often leads to criminal issues.
In the future I think there will be the wasted and then the top people much like how there is the Have and Have Nots today.

Tobacco is far, far worse as it really has no medicinal or meditative benefits. I am not bashing pot just making a point that the people's priorities are out of whack and it would be interesting to be able to see what future civilizations will think of the silliness it has become.
