They are irresponsible because they were never raised properly by their parents, teachers, coaches, and mentors. In this world, where Hollywood and reality TV shows glamorize out of wedlock births, parents and other adults need to teach importance on being a family and sticking together to counteract what the media does to children growing up.
It is sad to see young women being tied down in that manner rather than having a family with a partner they can rely upon. I've been wondering about this as well. I guess it comes down to one of three scenarios:
1. Unwanted, unexpected pregnancy due to unprotected sex
2. Relationships that fell apart
3. Relationships that last but with wrong people
While the first scenario can be avoided and is mostly in the woman's control, the second and third scenarios are much harder to control and take a lot of personal judgement. It is unfortunate that so many of them don't choose wisely. Half of marriages end up in divorce in the US, which is sad and toxic for the children.
Why don't these women choose wisely? I think that's because there is a disconnect between romance and responsibility, and these are often easily confused. Women (and also men) want to stay with their romantic partners naturally, but it takes a level of responsibility for the relationship to move further and possibly involve kids.
Responsibility, unfortunately, is severely lacking in a large portion of the adult population.
I don't see too much of that here, but a of people live in a fantasy world. They do things without thinking or wondering if they'll face consequences. People lack responsibility nowadays. It is so much about instant gratification.
Right, I agree that two irresponsible people made the children, but in this situation only one irresponsible person is abandoning the offspring.
Why did OP specifically target the women as irresponsible?
Because women are the gate keeper and should use better judgment in who they let inside so to speak. There are far more consequences for a female having sex and getting preggo irresponsibly than for a man. It's just a fact.

exactly It may be some bias but I think 60-75 % o women are incapable of selecting a dude who would be a suitable father. then when they get knocked up its much easier for the man to escape that situation
To add to the discussion, it is a common trend in my area. No one ever expresses shame or disappointment. Everyone (including the soon to be mom) rejoices and claps as if she won the nobel prize. Even if the dad is a crackhead and leaves, she is so brave and amazing for becoming a mother. As you can probably see, this only reinforces the behavior rather than teach and deter irresponsible pregnancies in the future.
Wait, why is it the women being irresponsible?? They are the ones taking care of the kids. Why isn't the deadbeat the irresponsible one?
Without breaking the protections promised by the Bill of Rights how do you prove who the potential deadbeat is?
In any event without any custody and time to bond a child becomes like a lion cub to a male. Something in the way of the woman being available for further sexual relations. The sexual relationship is the biological glue which serves to bond the male to the unit and makes him more likely to support that unit to keep the sexual access to the mother open.

How is it mostly the womans control over an unexpected pregnancy from unprotected sex? The Man can use protection if he does not want a child and not blame it on the woman. Any man that thinks that it is solely the womans responsibility if he is not using a condom is fooling himself.

It is also a fact that if a man thinks he has nothing to worry about by not wearing a condom is an ignorant fool that is too immature to think about being a parent. A man can wear protection, simple, problem solved, no baby.
A lot of people, for some reason, don't think about consequences. By the time they do, it's too late. On the other hand, not every child born out of wedlock lacks a father, even if he isn't under the same roof.
