Turns out like 1/2 the staff doesn't have a security clearance. I am sure there is a deep state delay. And like you posts are politically neutral.
which is a bunch of hogwash. we are not talking about Joe smoe from the electrical department, we are talking individuals who have direct access to the POTUS. clearance should have been done immediately.
And the fact that as you say, 1/2 the staff doesn't have it shows exactly how much this administration cares about the "rules"
but to answer your original question, it's not and either or proposition. As a Pitt grad I can tell you integrity is extremely important so no we may not have supported Jonas Salk if we thought he was beating women.
I work for a large international fortune 100 chemical company, no we dont care how "brilliant" you are. you can have Nobel prizes out the wazoo, no we are not hiring you if you have child pornography on your laptop.
Personally I think we need to start demanding more integrity out of a lot of these morons, not less. Can someone say NFL!! everyone looked the other way with these jokers. as long as they are star athletes and bring in boat loads of money,it's ok if they beat the crap outta women.
So I totally disagree, Porter's "nastiness" says a lot about his character. And yes I have a problem with a man who evidently can't keep his hands to himself advising the President of the US.
Character and skill are important. let me ask you would you let someone accused of child molestation in your house to make a repair? according to you that wouldn't matter as long as he was a great plumber.

This is not as easy as a lot of people want to make it. Few issues are.
First, if everyone who is "disreputable" in one way or another are fired or not hired, we're going to have a HUGE unemployment issue in this nation, the likes of which we have not seen since the Great Depression. There are lots of not very nice people in this world.
Second, but there are some jobs where it doesn't matter so much. I don't much care who works at the local bottling plant, or is a UPS driver, or sorts the mail, or works on my carburetor. But I do care who works in my child's school, or who has a supervisory role over women, or who sits in Congress or the White House or the Supreme Court. Some of those are based on practicality, others because of wanting the best and brightest in the leadership of our nation. We don't need competent slime as our leaders.
I'd argue we have slime as our leaders and have had for a long time. John F. Kennedy had known affairs (especially after he was elected) as did Bill Clinton and far more with Donald Trump. Clinton and Trump both got elected despite this and rape allegations.

Affairs are not illegal so set that one aside.
I think rape allegations today would be a bigger problem than in the past - regardless of who was running.

I differentiate between consensual affairs and other sexual issues.
But they clearly hired him anyway... speaking to his merit. A restraining order is a joke. The standard is if they woman is subjectively fearful. There is no reasonable person standard. Plus he was dating someone at the white house who wasn't complaining. It was a tough situation but in no way gross negligence from Kelly.
Incorrect - a TEMPORARY restraining order requires the person to under oath explain the situation - you're perjuring yourself if you lie.
A longer lasting restraining order requires a "preponderance of the evidence" - it's not automatically granted, by any means.
I don't really see how. Porter says he didn't do it. It shows that Kelley tries to be fair. My husband was falsely accused by a former gf who had "Photos" that she did her self to "get him". We used to be a system of evidence and fairness... now we are a system of shaming without any evidence.
Without more lawsuits and legal processes about abuse problems it will soon be the same as the Red Guard mob denunciations during Mao's Cultural Revolution.
Without legal processes and the rule of law above Twitter swarms and storms the U.S. is a dying democracy.
Forgive me, but I don't know what Rob Porter's nastiness as a husband or significant other has to do with his skill on the job.
It says a lot about the person because it speaks to the degree to which they will impose their will on others. It speaks to their motivation; ME above ALL ELSE. It speaks to how well they control their emotions in less than great situations. Someone who can't override their anger or frustration in the moment isn't making the best decisions; particularly when those decisions affect other people. Lash out first, think later? A pouting baby who didn't progress beyond hitting and kicking during a squabble? Like likes like unfortunately.

Well stated.
In general, people can't compartmentalize their personalities.
We had a teacher in our school who...well, let's say that when we saw him interacting with his wife he was a bit of a...well, bully would be overstating it, but on that side of things. He was that way with colleagues, students, and parents.

Tell me what you think of this story.
One hot night in July 1969 a Senator goes to a party with a woman not his wife. Both get drunk. The Senator, driving her to a boat launch, drives off the side of a bridge without guardrails. The senator in question didn't get removed until August 2009, but his removal from public life was at that point permanent.
