A million posters on here have probably said this already, but. . .

If a library ~ any library, I don't give a rat's a$$ where it is! ~ is going to provide porn then it needs to be segregated from minors just as a adult stores are. This is a pin-head, moronic issue that shouldn't even exist! Personally, I hate the idea of porn in a library, but if that's an upcoming "evolvement" within libraries then it needs to be blocked off with their own computers.

Since when is this about libraries providing porn?

My telephone company provides porn. The post office provides porn.

Your point about segregated areas may be well taken, but your premise is faulty.

OK< Are we only discussing access to porn via the internet then? Not , say, having a section with Penthouse, Playboy and such? If it is, indeed, only the internet we are talking about, then the premise you are critiquing here is somewhat faulty. I was under the impression that magazines and such were being included here, thus, a library that allowed said magazines would, in a sense, be 'providing.

Fair enough. My library has "Rolling Stone" on the shelf. I haven't looked in a long time, but I have the impression that there is content in that magazine that parents might object to. Same goes for "Cosmopolitan". There must be numerous gray-area magazines like that, which tolerate borderline art and literature. I recently saw an R. Crumb cartoon spread in "New Yorker" that was very graphic, and showed every body part and posture that Playboy shows, but in more exaggerated proportions.

I hope nobody thinks the library ought to limit its general periodical room to "People" and "Family Circle" magazine, and even go through that to make sure there is nothing that should be blacked out.

But as to your point, yes, it is my understanding that this thread is about internet access.

As to porn making "MEN" into predatory animals, should not the "WOMEN", who are paid, quite handsomely I might add, to pose for the cameras share some culpability as well then? LMAO< since the ...problem..they are creating by plying their trade are so obvious, it hardly seems fair to pin everything on the male population. As a male, I feel victimized by the porn industry, spreading this disease of sexual deviancy in the pages of their publications, via all those evil women

Aren't the powerful male politicians/sports figures, etc., the ones being brought down by their PHALLUSES, most of the time?

So libraries ought to filter swimsuit pictures? Ban those disgusting WalMart flyers in the Sunday papers, with color pictures of cute, enticing 12-year-old girls in swimsuits, freely available to pervs.

So... like I said 274 posts ago... everything starts with a perception of a naked body...

I guess, the best way to fight pornography would be to dress every female in a burkha style garb.

Sounds like an idea from a person of conservative fundamentalist God-fearing religious persuasion.
