The so called "land of the free". I don't believe in it, but if my neighbor did, I really wouldn't care. It is not how "I grew up", but whose to say that what I'm do'n is wrong? It's so nice that the gov't gets involved, they can save us.
People instantly think of those 13 year old girls, wearing frontier clothing, married to 60 year old perverts.
However, this isn't the real polygamy that I've seen. I have a friend, who is Muslim, and he has two wives and lives in Fort Walton Beach. They are perfectly happy, and couldn't see living any other way.
I've seriously thought about following that type of lifestyle, just for the financial benefits alone would be worth it.
However, its hard to find a woman willing to do that, if its not religiously oriented.
He's lying to you......No man can be perfectly happy with two wives... LOL
The financial benefits of polygyny to me, entails that more than one spouse can work, while one spouse or more is pregnant.
You can't get more than one pregnancy at a time with polyandry.
Let me get that straight: you want several wives because you think you could make them pregnant more than one at the time. The other wives you would send to work in order to support you and the pregnant wives. After a while you would have a bunch of kids, so one wife would take care of you, the kids and the household, while you would try to get other wives pregnant again.
Is that what are you thinking about??

Nobody's (or almost nobody) is for the practice as you describe it. The question was, what about between 3 or more mature, consenting adults?
I think, as long as the same rights and responsibilities are present in a polygymous marriage as are expected otherwise, then there shouldn't be an issue.

Well, I will be happy to wait and see how many women will jump into this discussion and support this thread...
No one supports that, it is the public face that polygamy has been given, but its not the common practice in place world wide.
Do you support 3 30 year old people marrying one another? How is that a disgusting practice? The man, and both women could be the same age, or right around the same age.

Some women only want to have children, and be housewives.
I'm not saying its the only way, polyandry would have benefits as well.
As I said before, for me, I wouldn't want to be in a marriage with multiple husbands, and one wife. Thats just my opinion. I wouldn't look down at anyone for choosing that type of relationship, it just wouldn't be for me.
As far as my example, I was just showing the limitations of a polyandry relationship, as opposed to a polygyny type.

Ugh thats what I was thinking.
