I"m so tempted to just buy some cheap land and have a small house made for my husband and I. I think it would be a great way to not having a mortgage and living more green.

What do you think?

Here is a sample of what I mean

I think those homes are extremely overpriced. Thay aren't much more than a glorified shed.

I am with you on the no mortgage part but you can build a small home for less money.

There are some awesome pre-fab homes out there. You can buy them in various stages of completion, or fully assembled. You provide the foundation and they'll deliver it on the back of a truck. The homes you listed in your post are way too tiny for two people. You'll need at least 700 s/f or so to keep from strangling each other.

Just reviewed the website. I think the guy is smoking too much of his own stash to think he'll be selling many of those. $39k for a 65 s/f "home"?!? LOL squared. Using the finest materials available on Earth, you can build that for under $4k.

$38,997.00 for a 65 sq ft permanent home?

That's insane.....

Please, before you guys do this, literally live in your closet, don't use your faucets for water, go to the nearest stream or river and only go to the bathroom out in the nearest patch of woods for a couple of months to see what it's like before you embark on something small and expensive like this....

Have you thought of looking into purchasing an old fix-up rural home?

Don't forget on top of that price you still have to buy your land and get water, electric, and sewer to it.

I've looked at the website before. They are adorable but, you can build something similar way cheaper than that.

We're looking at lots of options. If we could find a small home we can fix up that might help. We just basically want to be mortgage free in a few years and also install solar energy so that the utilities are minimal.

I spent a year living with my SO in something remarkably like this on a lot in Florida
1950 Roadmaster 30 ft. ©20010 Birchwood Beauties
Very doable as long as you don't need a lot of privacy.

If you think you might like a tiny home I think trying one of these on for size first would be a great way to give you an idea as to whether it would really work for you. Not to mention a vintage travel trailer is a whole lot cheaper and can be very green to boot! Easy to sell if it doesn't work out.

I’ve had several roommates over the years. I generally lived in my own room due to the fact that all of my roommates weren’t very neat and tidy. I remember thinking more than once, if I only had a small kitchen and bathroom, this would be perfect, no roommates…

The bottom line is can you live without all of the junk that you may have accumulated over the years. I agree that the house from the video is rather over priced in my opinion.

I found this company. Maybe manufactured homes are a better alternative. I can't believe most of them are under 50k! Manufactured Homes | Mobile Homes | Modular Homes for Sale Unfortunately they don't come to my state, but I'll move for that !
