recently ive been using baking soda to wash my close, nothing else, and no dryer sheets when drying, it has worked somewhat, but i would like alternatives?
I've made mine several times, but still looking to try another recipe. Basically they use Borax, washing soda, and FelsNaptha soap.
I might try this one next
1 cup vinegar (white)
1 cup Baking Soda
1 cup Washing Soda
1/4 cup liquid castile soap
Mix well and store in a sealed container
She says to pour the liquid soap in a container first, stir in the washing soda, then add baking soda, then the vinegar in small batches (recipe foams at first). The mix is a thick pase but will break down into a heavy powdered detergent.
Get the clumps out of the baking soda before adding!
Are those still around? They were kind of a hot fad, what? Ten, maybe fifteen years ago, before all the consumer advocate tests proved they were purely a scam?
Before you spend your cash on these, be sure to read the consumer reviews.
What limited effect they have is due to... basically... automating the old process of beating clothes with a rock in running water to clean them. And they have a similar disadvantage to the wet rock technology, that they shorten the usable life of the garment.
Hey, but at least you don't get the pruney hands of the original method, and don't need a running stream... or knee pads.
