My family and I are considering relocating to the G-boro/W-S area. I went to school and lived in the area for 20+ years. Most of my family and friends are in NC - and I miss them!

I have been a bit disappointed in the dismal rental listings on Craigslist, Zillow, Facebook, etc. Does anyone have alternative sites for non-complex, private owner rentals? Schools are not an issue - commute is not an issue. Safety - pet friendly are both at the top of the list!

Thanks in advance!

There isn't much point to looking for rentals if you aren't in town and ready to make a move.
Most spots will come onto the market and get rented out pretty quickly.

Other than the larger developments with fairly frequent turnovers...
any spot that stays open for very long probably has something wrong with it.

And from the other end...
you really don't want to sign a lease on anything that isn't 100% ready to occupy.

Craigslist is as good as any other source to find a rental...
when you're ready to walk through and apply and move in.

WE were hoping for some property management company/real estate referrals. We'll certainly be visiting - and hiring a rental agent if necessary. Being "in town" and "ready to make a move" aren't necessarily inclusive to securing a property. Given our price range $1.5-3K a month - large developments or quick turnover probably won't be an issue.

We may just opt for a vacation or short-term rental situation. Going from a large metro area to a small town may not be all that much fun in the long run.

Many real estate companies are now doing property management. Try checking on their websites.

There is a group of condos my cousin has recently rented from in NW GSO. There is a few there for rent now. Looking on craigslist this came up.
Somerset Village Condominium (http://greensboro.craigslist.org/apa/2736108680.html - broken link)

Anywhere in the NW area has good schools. Summerfield has some decent rental homes as well!

Thanks all for the suggestions!

Since my husband's mother-in-law wants us in NC - I think I will pass off the leg work to her!
