Are there any neighborhood developments that have been or will be built (soon) with eco-friendly or sustainable principles anywhere in the triad?

We're house hunting in Winston but not having much luck finding what we want closer to town. We're beginning to realize we may have to look further out but most new developments seem to be completely treeless which is not for us.

Thanks!

What's your definition of eco-friendly?

That's true just about everywhere in the country, not just in the Triad.

Yes, what do you define as eco-friendly?

Do you mean energy efficient / green homes?

If so, there are several builders who build what are referred to as 'green' homes around Greensboro. Here is one:

Thanks! I didn't mean to imply that the Triad's new developments were more treeless than other places. But in Atlanta, newer "green" neighborhoods were springing up before we moved with energy-efficient homes, sustainable building practices, low-voc paint, etc. When they clear-cut trees, the planted a ton more to make up for it. That sort of thing. That link is exactly what I'm looking for. Now if only I could find that kind of development in Winston...

If that link is the type of home site you are looking for (and we did look at a home on that site), there are several other builders who do the same thing. If you contact them, they may have sites in Winston Salem, or know builders who do.
