Thomasville is on the outer edge of the metro Triad area, and it's roots are as a textile and furniture manufacturing town - hard hit by globalization nowadays.

It's affordable but there's not much there for entertainment. You'd be driving to Greensboro for a lot of things, IMO. If you want slow and quiet it may be OK, but I think you'd find more satisfaction with Greensboro or Winston if you liked the Matthews area near Charlotte.

Appreciate the feedback we plan to make a drive out to TVille check it out

Biggest thing is we want to try and be 25 miles or less from both Greensboro and the Dash

Kind of hoping to be in an area where can have a walkable downtown doesn’t have to be large. With Matthews like how the downtown is walking friendly and keeps the old time shops. Has local eats. One post office. Hopefully a local farmer’s market.

Planning to purchase in May-July window is the goal

What’s your thoughts about Thomasville???

Schools look great and property value you can’t beat.

Eyeing Greensboro, Clemmons, Advance, Colfax, Jamestown, Midway and Kernersville

Should we look at WS and Highpoint???
The schools look great in T'ville? What data are you looking at? The state report card give T'ville schools C's and D's:

https://ncreportcards.ondemand.sas.c...ounty=davidson

In another thread you said you were looking at small towns within 20 minutes of W-S. Now you're also considering G'boro, HP and W-S? I'm confused about what you want.

For jobs it’s looking more and more likely will be be able to find work in WS and HP

We really liked Greensboro

We also don’t want to be in a City environment or a far drive from work

As far as schools go been looking mostly at GreatSchools anything 5 or higher fits the bill

Personally, I wouldn't pay any attention to Great Schools. The NC School Report Card is much better information. Neither G'boro nor W-S are what I'd call a "city environment". They're both more like large small towns than "cities". And both are much better places to live than HP.

High Point has long had a reputation in Guilford county as "where you look to buy if you cannot afford Greensboro". Although the areas around the lakes and Jamestown are more stable and middle class. They're convenient neighborhoods to access the larger cities, but won't have that walkable downtown ambiance you were seeking.

You might take a look at Kernersville. I have not been there in a couple of decades myself - but since it's midway between Winston and Greensboro, I would assume it's grown quite a lot from what I remember and has more amenities.

Appreciate the feedback

Another example guess have to get a feel when we do a few drives to the area

Is up North where we came from looking for a town or area similar to this if does exist...

Had a town that had a strip of big box stores and fast food restaurants. Majority was rural country farm land. Also had a lake, few parks, and some walking/hiking trails. The downtown was small with few Churches. Local hospital was nearby. Local restaurants and shops. A old school movie theater. Downtown usually hosted small fairs, festivals, road races, and farmers market. A few volunteer fire departments and a volunteer EMS unit. The town was about 20 to 30 mins to a more larger City (70,000 people) with a decent size mall. Had a university and larger hospital in the nearby City.

Hoping to find something similar to that definitely got that vibe on our first visit to the Triad area.

Do appreciate the feedback!
