Hello:

I am from South Jersey, looking to relocate. These are my requirements:

1. Beach close by, laid back
2. Not a high tourist area, less traffic
3. Affordable, simple life
4. Things to do for a 43 year old single woman
5. No snow, mild winter temperatures

I have been looking into SC or perhaps Marathon, Florida Keys. Any suggestions to those places or others would help. Thanks !!!

This is probably the wrong forum to post your question in. Upstate, SC isn't a beach type area... The nearest true beach is over 3 hours away.

The nearest beach type areas that might meet your criteria:

Wilmington, NC; Folly Beach, SC (not so affordable); North Myrtle Beach, SC (maybe too much crime).

You will most definitely get better results posting in the lower SC forums.

Georgetown, SC. Quaint, historic, nice shops & restaurants. Pawleys Island or Hilton Head Island are VERY laid-back, quiet, mature but do get a good number of tourists.

Good luck!

Brunswick County NC beaches - not too far from Wilmington and Wrightsville. I used to live there, and have family there (Wilmington). Wilmington proper has gotten a bit congested with the development, University traffic, etc. but is still a nice area, IMO.

What do you consider affordable? There have been two condos (foreclosures) 3 miles from Folly Beach that have sold in the last couple of weeks. $140k-$160k. There are a couple of more that are on the market. Of course you have to factor in the regime fee. It is laid back! Only 9 miles to Charleston SC.
