Just curious...noticed that there are Fleet Feet and Run In. There's also still signage up next to Moe's for Run In Inc, which I assume is the just the old location for Run-In.
Does anyone have a preference in regard to selection and customer service?
I'm getting ready to start a Couch-2-5k program and want to find somewhere that can help analyze my gait and find the best shoes to minimize impact.
Both are locally owned and provide professional service. They have been in business several years because the surrounding community is very active with lots of runners and walkers.
Okay. Different from how the outdoor adventure sports stores (Half Moon, Appalachian Outfitters, Sunrift, etc) are spread out. But I guess it works for them.
They are neighborhood stores that primarily serve the immediate community (Augusta Road area) where they are located. Notice it is also the same community that has been able to support an Alpine Ski Center shop for many years.
I am more confused as to how there is there an "Alpine Ski Center" on Augusta road? That's right, an Alpine Ski Center in Greenville, SC. How does that work?
Every time I go down Augusta Road, there a people jogging along the sidewalk. I guess it's the place to be seen, as there are much better places to jog nearby than right down Augusta Road.
I haven't been to Fleet Feet, so I can't speak for their service, but I did buy running shoes from Run In in March, and I couldn't be happier. I have apparently been buying the wrong type of shoes for my feet for my entire life. I felt like they were committed to helping me find the perfect pair of shoes, and they told me to come back if I was experiencing any discomfort after running in them for a week. That wasn't needed though- best $100 I've ever spent on running shoes!
I tried Fleet Feet for the first time recently and have no negatives. I did have to go back and exchange my shoes....the first pair was just not right even after trying on a jillion pairs. They ached my feet while running to the point where I was in tears even after I took the shoes off. I was able to exchange them and try on a jillion more and have a new pair of Mizunos that work well for me.
I spent $100 too. I am only running about 2-3 miles at a time after completing the c25K during then again after my 2nd pregnancy. I am just a slow runner!
